Adopt-a-rental-block @ South-West CDC

The college has also established a sustained partnership with South West CDC to ensure direct contributions to the community. In 2011, 114 PJC teachers, as part of college CIP for teachers, together with Mr Alex Yam, MP of Choa Chu Kang Constituency, administered a needs assessment survey to the 300 low-income rental households in Blocks 536 and 537 of Choa Chu Kang Street 51 to identify issues relating to society, health, lifestyle and financial needs of the residents staying in rental blocks. The findings of the survey would enable South West CDC to undertake targeted measures to help these needy households through the distribution of ration packs and electrical appliances.

In 2012 to enhance PJC’s active role in community service in Choa Chu Kang Constituency, the college collaborated with South West CDC on the Adopt-a-Rental-Block Project. In early 2012, PJC students also administered a survey to the 300 low-income rental households in Blocks 536 and 537 of Choa Chu Kang Street 51 on their need for electrical appliances and furniture. Subsequently, the students involved would work with Southwest CDC to deliver items sponsored by brands such as Akira and Novena to the households.
